Ever heard of the Filipino folk song "Bahay Kubo" (Nipa Hut)? It is a charming song about a little nipa hut surrounded with heaps of vegetable varieties.
On my Facebook wall, a friend of mine posted an updated version known as "Bahay Condo" (Condominium House). I found it very hilarious. It goes like this:
bahay Condo kahit munti ♪
ang gadgets doon ay sari sari ♪
flat screen na TV, blu-ray DVD,
ipod, Ipad, Iphone ♪
♪ Laptop na malaki, Laptop na maliit,
at saka meron pa portable MP3 ♪
♪Digicam,Videocam, Wi-Fi at HD, ♪
♪ sa paligid ligid ay puno ng . . . Chargeeeerrrrrr ♪♪
(Condominium house, even if it is small,
There are a variety of gadgets.
Flat screen TV, Blu-ray DVD,
iPod, iPad, iPhone,

and also a Portable MP3,

and all around, it is full of chargers.)
My, my... the signs of the times! :-)
Speaking of Bahay Kubo, I sell a full-color picture book of this amusing melody. I always wanted to buy a picture book of Bahay Kubo with each vegetable illustrated and the English names of the vegetables named in Tagalog. Unfortunately, I didn't find one. Fortunately, I was able to do my homework and produced a lovely picture book using my research, paintings, and editing with the help of computer software.

It is the perfect gift for children, the young at heart, and you too. This book is written in Tagalog with English translation. If you have plans to give gift baskets of 17 different kinds of tropical vegetables each, I recommend you to stock up copies of my Bahay Kubo books (each bearing 17 different kinds of tropical vegetables) for gift giving opportunities. They last the longest time compared to stocking up fresh produce. (Hint-hint, nudge-nudge :-)
