DL: I get my ideas from the spoken word, written word, and exploring the many possibilities of a word. Most of these words have clever sound-alikes or multiple meanings.  Like matador sounds like mat-a-door; or the binding may refer to a pre-nup or a book.

DL: I am fully aware that I explored the comedic possibilities of the keywords of each joke before writing them down. If another has written a joke similar to mine, most likely we connected to a similar source.

INTERVIEWER: Why did you accept the challenge to write a pun a day for 365 days?

DL: After having my fill of retelling jokes that are not mine, I believed it is my time to create my own jokes by merely playing with words. Although I outgrew knock-knock jokes, I used riddles to compose my puns. As for writing once a day for a year, I felt it is a reachable goal and worth looking forward to do each day.
